The purpose of the Church Library Ministry is to provide and encourage the use of excellent resources in support of our church's ministries of evangelism, discipleship, worship, fellowship and outreach. All materials in the Main Library in The Sanctuary are Christian materials or are closely related to church ministries. The Children's Library in Burns Hall also includes some fun reading and family films.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Who May Check Out Materials?
Anyone who attends our worship services of Bible studies on a regular basis may check out materials. They need not be a member of the church.
  • How Do I Check Out Library Materials?
Find the white card on the back or inside of the item. Print the date and your name on the first blank line. Leave the white card on the Library Desk. There will be a Due Date sticker on the item, usually one month or one week. Please mark your calendar>
  • May I Donate Materials?
Yes. We accept books, DVD's, CD's and magazines that speak positively about Jesus Christ and are in general agreement with United Methodist beliefs. Any Christian materials that do not meet the need of our library at that time will be shared with smaller church libraries or a Christian Thrift Store. In addition, we have an annual "Freebie Day" in the Library where we place some of the donations.
  • What Subjects Are Included?
Bible studies, inspirational and devotional reading, personal growth, dating, marriage, parenting, health, financial management, church history, music, theology, Christian biography, and social issues. Classical and current Christian fiction (inspirational, romance, mystery, historical, biblical).

The Library Catalog

The catalog is available on the church website: CLICK HERE. Catalog is also available in both libraries.

LIBRARY VOLUNTEERS

Staff the Libraries during open hours, assisting library users. Select, order, catalog and process new materials, and handle other day to day tasks that keep the Libraries running smoothly.

Volunteers should be comfortable using a computer (our library catalog is on a computer) and have some familiarity with locating and shelving books using the Dewey Decimal System (same as most public and school libraries). Some training is available on our specific systems. YOU could be a library volunteer!
